Figuring Out Funding: Finances of Book Publishing
Join us at our new St. Louis Park venue; details below.
Understanding the costs and potential revenue streams of a publishing venture is integral to avoid bankrupting yourself before you get started.
You’ve got your book written, re-written, edited, and proofread. It’s finally ready to see the light of day. But how do you fund bringing your book into the world? Where does the money come from, and where does it go? This talk will discuss models for seeking revenue for a project and pricing production of your work.
Book production, marketing, submitting to awards, applying to sell at festivals, even setting up readings can cost money. Our guest, Nayt Rundquist, will cover the costs of publishing a book, like production, printing, and advertising. We will also look into potential revenue streams for your projects, including applying for grants, crowdfunding models, and selling at readings and other events. Rundquist will also discuss distribution options and how booksellers select what to sell.
